Launch of network group for young professionals

North Cheshire Young Professionals Network launches!

The North Cheshire Young Professionals Network is a programme to provide development and network opportunitites to support young people aged 16-24 from Macclesfield, Poynton, Wilmslow and Knutsford who are in the early stages of their career, including those undertaking apprenticeships. The programme is run jointly by the Macclesfield Pledge and North Cheshire Chamber of Commerce, both of whom are keen to develop the local young leaders of the future.

Young professionals will benefit from an annual programme of four 90 minute network sessions between April 2022 and January 2023. These will provide opportunitites for young people to establish their own peer contacts and support networks with colleagues at a similar early stage of their career within the local area, and to develop their professional skills. Each session will have a separate theme to help the young people to develop their skills in networking, communication and presentation, whilst also providing opportuntities for them to get to know each other and develop relationships. All attendees will receive a Certificate of Attendance for their development portfolio.

This is a great opportunity for local employers to invest and support their young professionals and to help attract future talent with a proven peer network. Those interested in joining the programme or wanting to find out more should contact Lizzie Wood elizabeth@northcheshirechamber.co.uk or join our Zoom session on Wednesday 23 March to learn more and have your questions answered.

Business owners helping each other to drive growth with Peer Networks

Cheshire and Warrington Growth Hub are now recruiting for their latest Peer Networks groups due to start in November, with funded places allocated on a first come first served basis.

Peer Networks is government-backed, fully-funded opportunity that brings together business owners from a range of sectors and specialisms from Cheshire and Warrington.

The business owners drive each facilitated session, choosing topics important to them to focus on – this could be recruitment, EU transition, leadership or Net Zero. Group members then mentor each other to find solutions and positive outcomes to their individual challenges.

Helen Tonks, co-founder of Alsager firm Hydraulics Online took part in Peer Networks earlier this year.  Helen said: “Peer Networks was a great opportunity to connect with a group of diverse, but ultimately like-minded, local business owners and leaders, who I would never otherwise have crossed paths with so we could talk and share ideas in a really safe and supportive environment.”

“I found it hugely rewarding to be part of the process of helping somebody to have a lightbulb moment where they could finally see the proverbial wood for the trees and a way through a problem that had often, quite literally, been keeping them awake at night. Best of all, we have stayed in touch as a cohort and have continued to act as sounding boards for one another.”

Peer Networks offers businesses 18 hours of support working in these small virtual groups as well as an additional three and a half hours of one-on-one support. The programme is open to businesses with five employees or more who have a turnover above £100,000 and have been trading for over one year.

An exciting future for Thorneycroft Solicitors

An exciting future for Thorneycroft Solicitors

The Directors of Macclesfield based, Thorneycroft Solicitors, a part of TS Group Ltd, and Bankstone are jointly pleased to announce that Dickon Tysoe has now purchased the entire share capital of Bankstone.

The two businesses will continue to have a very close working relationship. Thorneycroft Solicitors and TS Group have had a close relationship with Bankstone since 2005, acquiring a controlling interest in 2013.

The intervening years have seen both businesses grow from strength to strength, however, the recently implemented Civil Liability Bill has focused all parties to review their respective objectives and as a consequence and for the parties` mutual benefit, TS Group has now sold their shareholding, which will allow the parties to work together in other ways.

Both parties are looking forward to an exciting future and continuing to offer their clients the best levels of client care and service.
