AstraZeneca Macclesfield Awarded Prestigious Blue Plaque by the Royal Society of Chemistry

AstraZeneca’s Macclesfield Campus has been awarded a prestigious Blue Plaque by the Royal Society of Chemistry in recognition of a contribution of almost sixty years to science and medicine.

Sarah Dayre, Macclesfield Campus Lead, said: “ We are so proud to receive this award from the Royal Society of Chemistry. It is a true recognition of the incredible work of the thousands of dedicated people who have passed through our Campus working in the service of science and patients across the world – and the 5,000 employees who still do.” “It’s fantastic that we have received this honour in the year we’re celebrating the 25th anniversary of the merger of the then Zeneca with the Swedish company Astra, to form AstraZeneca.”

Helen Pain, CEO of the Royal Society of Chemistry said: “ It’s a great pleasure to share in this celebration of the enormous achievements of chemical scientists at the AstraZeneca Macclesfield Campus. Events like this one are a rare chance to pause and reflect on our shared history, celebrating the vital contributions that chemical scientists have made to our society.”

The Blue Plaque was awarded to AZ in a ceremony held last week. Former AZ employees as well as current graduates and apprentices and RSC-affiliated colleagues from across the Campus were joined by local dignitaries, and representatives from AZ’s local charity partners – the East Cheshire Hospice and the Silklife foodbank.

The event also looked forward to the future, with pupils from Hurdsfield Primary School attending. Also present were pupil’s representing a group of nine schools who AZ partner with to further the awareness of STEM careers in the North West.

Chamber Patrons, Beyond Law Group expands into the south with new London office

Following a year of record growth, Beyond Law Group announces the opening of its new premises in Mayfair, London

Beyond Law Group, which was founded in 2017 with offices in Manchester and Cheshire, has announced the opening of its first London office.

Beyond credits the expansion to the diverse nature of its work and increasing demand in the capital and the wider South East region for both its corporate and consumer legal services. For Beyond Law Group’s clients, there is no North / South divide when it comes to charge out rates and fees.

The strategically placed Georgian office, located on Brook Street, Mayfair presents clients with different surroundings to the to the Victorian Warehouse HQ based in Manchester city centre, but with the same unique client experience.

The Group’s corporate and commercial practice, Beyond Corporate, acts for many of the UK’s leading businesses and for them the decision to open an office in the capital was a very necessary response to this demand. Managing Partner James Corlett says: “The London office signals a new stage in the development for Beyond Law Group and its specialist practices, providing the opportunity to enhance our relationships with referrers and clients in the capital which, in turn, we expect to drive significant revenues into the business.”

For the Group’s award-winning Family and Children practice, McAlister Family Law, establishing a more prominent, physical presence in London is a major step forward in their plans for growth both nationally and internationally. Managing Partner Amanda McAlister says: “The new office opening signals the start of what we expect to  be a significant year for Beyond Law Group and its specialist practices having in  the last 12 months have seen a 26.2% increase in organic revenue growth. The London office gives all of our practices the ability to get closer to our valued clients in London and the South, providing the level of service and client experience that we are traditionally known for across Manchester and Cheshire.

Matt Fleetwood, Chief Executive and Founder of Beyond Law Group, adds: “The opening of a London office has been in our sights for some time, ensuring that we provide on-hand support and embrace the power of face-to-face interaction with clients. Moving into one of the City’s most prestigious districts represents an exciting new chapter in the Group’s growth, and demonstrates our commitment to expand into new arenas and create further opportunities for our people.”
