A BREXIT Awareness Webinar for Importers and Exporters

The UK is preparing to leave the European Union Single market, possibly without any form of Free Trade Agreement with the EU. The likelihood of concluding such an agreement prior to the UK’s full exit from the EU Customs Union and Single Market at the end of 2020 is very uncertain at present.

The UK must prepare for the possibility of a period of the implementation of World Trade Organisation (WTO) tariffs with its European neighbours. The good news is that many tariffs, especially given the introduction of the new UK Global Tariff, are already so low or even zero, that the overall effects of such a scenario are not greatly burdensome on the economies of either the UK or the EU. In any case, Excise Duties continue to apply as before, and Import VAT is reclaimed by VAT-registered companies in any case. This will be further streamlined by the introduction of the Postponed VAT Accounting (PVA) system, which will also link in with the Making Tax Digital (MTD) initiative. Various Customs facilities, including Simplified Procedures, will enable companies to manage their import and export affairs using electronic facilities, without the need for cumbersome border controls.

However, there are certain obligations that HMRC have imposed upon importers and exporters, and these and more will be explained in the webinar:

  • Background - The SAFE Framework of Standards and the Trade Facilitation Agreement;
  • Implications of the INCOTERMS;
  • The new Customs Export Procedures;
  • The Brussels Import Clearance System (ICS);
  • Advanced Export Cargo Pre-Clearance;
  • The GVMS system;
  • The new Import Customs Procedures;
  • EIDR (Entry in Declarants’ Records);
  • Deferment Accounts;
  • Simplified Procedures;
  • Postponed VAT Accounting;
  • The Phased Declaration System;
  • The UK Global Tariff;
  • Record-Keeping;
  • AEO and its implications;
  • The possible need for EU VAT/EORI Numbers;
  • Changes in Customs policy;
  • The need for public and corporate awareness;
  • The future ahead.

This is a FREE webinar for North Cheshire Chamber members and our exporters - non-members are welcome at a cost of £50+VAT payable in advance.
