Unlock your writing potential!

Unlock your writing potential!

Date: March 25, 2020

Time: 09:30-17:00

Location: North Cheshire Chamber, 9 King Edward Street, Macclesfield SK10 1AQ

THIS EVENT IS NOW FULLY BOOKED

Have you ever noticed how sometimes when you are writing, the more you struggle, the more difficult it is to find the words? Paradoxically, some of the best pieces are those that come with almost no effort. You may have wondered why some days you can sweat over the keyboard for hours, only to produce an awkward paragraph or two. On other occasions the words seem to appear like magic, without any effort. And amazingly these pieces can be your best work. So how can you call on this energy and exploit it more readily?

This informal, innovative and inspirational workshop is designed to unlock the barriers that may hold you back. Unconventional games and exercises will help you build confidence and fluency in an atmosphere of fun and discovery. You will learn to plug into your “creativity” – and exploit it at will.

Whether you want to write articles for social media, update the copy on your website, produce more exciting newsletters, more engaging presentations and proposals, or simply get those emails, reports and letters finished faster, this workshop explores skills you never realised you had.

The workshop is delivered by Judi Goodwin, a journalist and trainer with wide experience in national newspapers, magazines and BBC radio. Her impressive client list includes AstraZeneca, HM Prison Styal, The Bank of England, The Royal Mint.

Timing is 9.30am until 5.00pm and the cost is £120+VAT for a Chamber member, and £150+VAT for a non-member, and includes a light lunch and refreshments throughout the day.

What you will come away with:

  • You will feel more confident about yourself and your ability to communicate.
  • You will look forward to writing jobs and tackle them with ease - even if writing has previously been a challenge.
  • You will know how to engage readers, customers and clients by communicating in a more human way.
  • Procrastination will be a thing of the past and you will produce more powerful text, often in less than half the time
  • Particularly suitable for developing a personalised or "writing-with-attitude" style for blogging or social media, or for anyone wanting to make technical or financial copy more engaging.

What other delegates say:

“This morning I nailed a press release in next to no time.  So thank you – I really enjoyed the day.”    Paula James, Atradius Credit Insurance

“Enjoyed today’s course. I think it will change the way I write and communicate for ever!”  Richard Gordon, Bank of England

Inclusion & Diversity … from an employer’s perspective

Inclusion & Diversity … from an employer’s perspective

Date: April 30, 2020

Time: 11.:30 for 12:00-14:00

Location: The Bridge Hotel, Prestbury SK10 4DQ

THIS EVENT IS POSTPONED DUE TO THE CORONAVIRUS CRISIS - IT WILL BE RESCHEDULED ONCE RESTRICTIONS ARE LIFTED

Our networking lunch is at The Bridge Hotel in Prestbury and our guest speakers are Rachel Gascoigne and Tracy West from Wickland Westcott who will talk on the subject of inclusion and diversity, and what it means from employer’s perspective.

Embracing inclusion and diversity in the workplace is becoming an essential part of an employer’s responsibility.

Organisations need to provide a working environment that allows people to be themselves at work, but this can bring many challenges.  Helping employers understand sources of bias and how to overcome them is at the root of what Wickland Westcott do.

Employers play an important role in developing and promoting a “strategic approach to inclusion” that helps drive appropriate employment practices, both in-house and for their clients.

Working with leaders in the field of assessment, talent development, team-building, performance and succession planning, Wickland Westcott are actively committed to all aspects of equal opportunity and diversity.  They keep abreast of best practice developments, and ensure their approaches are reviewed and refreshed regularly.

This is a fantastic opportunity to hear from “experts in their field”, and to make sure you are fully aware of your responsibilities as an employer.

The cost includes a 2-course lunch and is £20+VAT for a Chamber member and £30+VAT for a non-member.

Behind the scenes at Amazon

Behind the scenes at Amazon

Date: May 20, 2020

Time: 10:00 - 12:00

Location: Manchester Airport,

THIS EVENT IS POSTPONED DUE TO THE CORONAVIRUS CRISIS - IT WILL BE RESCHEDULED ONCE RESTRICTIONS ARE LIFTED

See the magic that happens after you click “buy” on Amazon by joining our tour of Amazon’s fulfilment centre at Manchester's Airport City.

In the mid-1990s, the Amazon warehouse and its office were one and the same. A handful of employees and one lovable dog shared the Seattle space, along with shelves and shelves of books. Over time, one warehouse became hundreds, and they are now called Amazon fulfilment centres. While they store millions of items and employ hundreds of thousands of people, Amazon fulfilment centres are a far cry from your typical warehouse.

So what’s different?  Well they are charged with fulfilling customer orders. In other words, Amazon warehouses not only store products but also serve as distribution centres where associates pick, pack, and ship orders quickly and efficiently. Amazon robotics, scanning machines, and computer systems in fulfilment centres can track millions of items in a day.

Numbers are limited for this opportunity to see how the wheels turn behind the scenes before your purchases land on your doorstep ... so book soon to secure your place.

This is a free event and is open to North Cheshire Chamber members only - booking is essential please.

Please note the date for our March tour has been changed to this new date of Wednesday 20 May 2020.
