Mind Full or Mindful? An introduction to mindfulness

Mind Full or Mindful? An introduction to mindfulness

Date: September 11, 2019

Time: 09.30-10:30

Location: North Cheshire Chamber of Commerce

Would you like first-hand experience of mindfulness? Would you like to get insight into how mindfulness can have an impact on personal and professional wellbeing? Or perhaps you want to see whether mindfulness can improve workplace behaviours.

SR Mindfulness will be running a 6-week introduction to mindfulness course in conjunction with North Cheshire Chamber of Commerce at the Chamber’s offices in Macclesfield, starting in September 2019.

The course will cover the origins of mindfulness and its relevance for modern life; explore a range of mindful approaches and techniques in a safe and welcoming environment; and provide you with support in nurturing a personal mindfulness practice. Some of the benefits of mindfulness include reduced self-reported measures of perceived stress, anger and anxiety, improved outlook, empathy and overall quality of life, and improved attention and cognitive capacities.

Whether you are a sole trader who wants to look after your personal wellbeing, work for a small company that cannot offer in-house mindfulness sessions, or work for a larger company that wants to learn more, this course is the perfect introduction to mindfulness.

The course will be run for one hour each Wednesday morning from 9.30am-10.30am for six weeks  (11th, 18th, 25th September and 2nd, 9th, 16th October).

The cost per person for the course of six sessions is £90 for a Chamber member and £110 for a non member.

This is what previous participants have said:

  •  ‘Extremely useful course with great tips on stress management and how to approach situations differently’
  • ‘The mindfulness techniques developed through the course have really helped to improve my well-being,       particularly around busy times at work.’

Please note that in order to offer a tailored course aligned with participants needs, numbers are limited to 6 people only.

Location: Age UK Cheshire East, 3rd Floor, Newbridge House, Henderson Street, Macclesfield, SK11 6RA

The Chamber is joining forces with Age UK Cheshire East in promoting their Business Breakfast to celebrate UN International Older Persons Day.

The breakfast event is being held at Age UK Cheshire East's own premises in Macclesfield with the aim of raising awareness of the vital work that the local charity does for older people, how older people themselves are supporting its services, and how it has had to evolve its service offer to reflect the different funding environment in which it now operates.

Chamber patron, Thorneycroft Solicitors, and member North West Mediation, have already become part of the charity's Supporters Scheme and will be talking about why they have partnered with the charity to support their work.

The event will provide valuable networking with local businesses over a Danish pastry and coffee, and will give an insight into the valuable work Age UK Cheshire East are doing to support the ageing population, which is acknowledged as being particularly high in Cheshire East.

Dementia is one of the conditions affecting an increasing number of individuals as life expectancy gets longer and it  is expected to grow rapidly in the UK, and indeed globally   There will be a 45-minute Dementia Friends information session at the end of the event for any guests wishing to stay and learn more. Many of us come into contact with people suffering from dementia and this session will help businesses understand how small changes can have a big impact on any clients living with dementia.
